Support the Mission
Help Build What Comes Next
American Saudade, Inc. (ASI) is a new 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Portuguese and Cape Verdean maritime heritage through education, historical research, cultural exploration, community engagement, and responsible seamanship.

We are building the organization that will carry this mission forward: its programs, collections, partnerships, educational resources, and flagship, S/V American Saudade.

That work requires more than funding. It requires people willing to contribute knowledge, practical skills, professional services, materials, introductions, and time.

Whether you are an individual, a small business, a corporation, a school, a library, a museum, or a maritime organization, there may be a meaningful place for you in this effort.

Support Takes Many Forms
Some supporters can contribute financially. Others can repair equipment, research a historical subject, organize records, develop a website, write a grant proposal, or introduce ASI to a potential partner.

A donated service can move a project forward. A family photograph can preserve a missing piece of history. A professional consultation can help us make a sound decision. A few dependable hours each month can strengthen the organization.

We welcome both immediate assistance and relationships that can grow over time.

Volunteer Your Time and Expertise

ASI needs people who can help turn worthwhile ideas into completed work.

Our administrative and operational needs include nonprofit management, accounting, fundraising, grant writing, volunteer coordination, communications, and project planning. Our public programs need educators, researchers, writers, translators, librarians, archivists, photographers, and video producers.

Website builders, designers, printers, and technology professionals can help us organize and share the mission. Marine engineers, mechanics, electricians, riggers, sailmakers, sailors, and boaters can contribute practical knowledge to the vessel project.

You do not need a professional title to participate. Reliability, curiosity, and a willingness to learn are valuable contributions.

Support the Vessel and the Voyage
The S/V American Saudade refit is preparing ASI’s flagship to serve as a floating classroom, a maritime heritage platform, and the principal vessel for the planned Great Circle Heritage Voyage.

Support may include technical services, equipment, materials, tools, training, logistics, and financial contributions toward identified project needs.

Guided by SubSafe to SailSafe™, the work emphasizes inspection, documentation, testing, training, and demonstrated readiness.

Those who contribute help build the practical foundation for future educational and cultural work across the Atlantic.

Help Preserve and Share Our Heritage
ASI welcomes assistance with its developing Maritime Heritage collection, Family Albums, and E-Library.
Photographs, letters, journals, maritime records, oral histories, and family stories can help document the people and communities shaped by the sea. Volunteers and institutional partners can help identify, organize, research, translate, and interpret these materials.

Educators and subject-matter contributors can also help develop Education programs and 360 Deep™ resources that encourage thoughtful study from multiple perspectives.

Become a Donor or Sponsor
Financial support helps ASI meet practical needs and develop its programs responsibly.

Individuals, businesses, and corporations can discuss support for a particular project, educational activity, equipment need, or the organization’s broader development. Contributions of goods and professional services can also address needs that would otherwise require direct spending.

We welcome conversations about sponsorship arrangements that connect a supporter’s interests and capabilities with ASI’s mission.

Build a Partnership or Alliance
Libraries, museums, schools, universities, cultural institutions, veterans’ groups, and maritime organizations can help ASI accomplish more through shared expertise and cooperation.

A relationship might begin with a presentation, a research inquiry, an introduction, or a jointly developed educational activity. Over time, it may lead to shared resources, student opportunities, historical preservation, cultural exchanges, and stronger connections between New England and the Atlantic islands.

We welcome proposals that advance the mission and establish clear, practical responsibilities for everyone involved.
